On January 28, 2019, our son Brendon was critically injured in a motorcycle accident in East Islip. With God's grace and many prayers from family and friends Brendon survived multiple sub dural hematomas, a massive sub arachnoid bleed resulting in Traumatic brain injury, or TBI. He is also suffering from a fractured shoulder, wrist and acute weakness to his entire left side .
We have been by Brendon side constantly since his accident, praying and fighting for his recovery. We are happy to report that he IS improving- but this road will be very long; a minimum of 3 months in rehabilitative therapy in the Brain Injury Unit at North Shore, Glen Cove. As you can imagine, this journey will take everything we have to help our son. Already we are fighting his insurance company for coverage, and we will continue to do so- whatever it takes to get our boy back to where he needs to be. He has a 7 year old son Rylan- who needs him, and he is definitely worth fighting for.
We want to thank everyone for all their love and support and especially their prayers. It means everything to us. So many of you have asked how you can help, and many of you have already supported our family with meal train donations and gift cards.
We are starting this fund to help offset the uncovered costs associated with Brendon's accident, therapy and general loss of pay.
As a firefighter for the Veteran's Administration and former United States Marine, Brendon served his country with honorable service. He also served his community as a former volunteer with West Islip and Islip Volunteer Fire Deprartments. Please do all you can to support him in his recovery, and keep those prayers coming! We pray daily that he is able to make a full recovery and get back to the job of being Rylan's Dad- full time!
