Fringe Family Help: Tom Montagliano

$1,817 of $2,000 goal

On May 29, 2018, Tom Montagliano was in a parking lot at the Cincy Fringe, in the process of setting up his pop-up, three-dimensional sound experience, housed within a 40ft glowing, inflatable igloo. A flash storm came through and punctured the structure, rendering it unstable. His handcrafted, electronic equipment was ruined in this Great Igloo Flood of 2018, all occurring on the afternoon of his first scheduled performance at the Fringe. Tom has since been forced to cancel the run of his immersive experience at Cincy Fringe and other engagements for the foreseeable future.

As fringe artists, we have all taken the leap to invest our time, money, imagination and love into a performative experience to share with communities around us. Tom traveled in his mint green van from Brooklyn, NY to Cincy, OH on this same leap of faith - only to have the storm wash away his possibilities. Instead of being the life of the party (because let’s face it we were ALL super excited to take part in his work) Tom is now left out in the cold.

Let’s show Tom how the global Fringe family takes care of each other and pitch in to help him recover from this devastating loss. If each one of us can offer Tom $5 before the end of the Cincy Fringe on June 10, he can recover a portion of his losses and get home to figure out what’s next. Hey, $2,  $5, $10 - any amount is super helpful. Heck, consider a $15+ donation if you planning to go see the show (We’re talkin’ to you Cincy Fringe fanatics!) If you can’t help financially, help us out by spreading the word to every Fringe community you’re a part of!

Let’s blow this thing up!

We have got good news to share!

With much blood, sweat and tears Tom's igloo has been stitched up and reinforced. His equipment has been drying out and is slowly coming back to life. This is great news, as it means the show may be able to go on!!!

This gofundme fundraiser will go to replacing lost ticketsales for his first 5 shows in Cincinnati and the cost of immediate and more permanent repairs.
Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Fringe Family Help fund for Tom and the Igloo!

Special thanks to Aaron Young for sewing up the hole in the side and the 4 volunteers who helped out during the process.
