Hey Everyone ! After much discussion with a few supportive and energetic Alumni we have chosen to run a fundraising campaign for the Rugby club that will benefit the teams this fall and moving forward. Our goal is to develop a fund that can be used to support the clubs continued development. Both the Men's and Women's teams are coming off Nationally ranked years and have the goal to compete in Nationals for both the Fall 15's season and the spring 7's season. We are looking to raise funds that will help with the costs of any potential travel to Nationals, A scholarship fund for incoming and current players, coaching development (camps, recruiting, asst coaches), and alumni development (Alumni Game, outings, etc. ).
We are in the process of developing a board of directors comprised of Alumni who will help decide how funds are spent and how best to support the programs moving forward. Beyond that we have been in discussion about creating a 501C3 or something similar as the foundation moving forward. It is a primary goal of ours to develop a closer relationship to the growing Alumni population. We have also seen that the most competitive programs in the country are developing something along these lines a "Friends of Marist Rugby" group that helps build a relationship with the community, alumni, and has the goal of continuing the development of the program. As we continue to grow we run into mounting costs involved with recruiting talented High School Players, keeping the talent we have already on campus, Travel, etc. Any help you could offer would be amazing, whether it be through a donation, sharing the message to friends, or offering to help with the creation of the alumni group that will help develop this idea moving forward.
