Help Fred & Ginger Dance Together

Donation protected
Oh Hai! Meet Fred, the white & brown piebald guy; and Ginger, the little bandit-faced ginger-haired gal. We (Steve & Val) became their forever home about a month ago, giving them a comfy, safe, and loving final landing pad to live the rest of their lives with ease and an excessive amount of belly rubs.

We want to raise a modest amount of money for these two lovers for two reasons:
1)    To donate to the rescue organization, Hearts4Doxies, who helped care for these two seniors before they came to us, and who still need to pay for a surgery for Mr. Fred (50%)
2)    To have a small cushion for ongoing vet care for these special needs senior dogs (50%)

These two adorable bonded senior dachshunds were surrendered to the Humane Society in January. They spent two months in the shelter and three months in an amazing foster home before they found their way to us. We were told they were 10 years old (we suspect older, but whose counting?).

Ginger must have been a breeder, for the poor thing had mammary tumors removed all up and down her sweet belly from just too many babies. She’s a black belt cuddle bug and must always be in the same room as her human, preferably on a lap. She is functionally blind from cataracts, but that doesn’t slow her down on walkies even one bit. If she can’t see you or doesn’t know what you are up to, she plays Barko-Polo to locate you!

Fred’s had an adventurous life. Despite birth defects leaving him deaf and vision impaired, he’s been on a wild ride—missing a toe, gaining a scar that goes up and over his forehead—we tell people it happened in a base jumping accident! This mellow fellow still has a painful and dangerous nasal fissure from a badly pulled tooth; he’ll be getting surgery to repair this condition on August 8th. His favorite retirement hobby is sunning himself in the grass of our fenced back yard.

They sleep cuddled together in a yin-yang donut dog curl or side-by-side as dog logs. They’ll eat from the same dish. They check in and give each other kisses. The rescue agencies worked miracles to save them, now it’s our turn to love them up. We would be so grateful if you could help us ensure the best possible quality of life in their sunset years.

Thank you for showing your love to these little lovebugs!
