FRC Team 5962 - Road to Championship

FRC Team 5962, named perSEVERE,  is a team of high school students from several cities and towns in the Merrimack Valley area of Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire participating in  FIRST Robotics Competition.

This competition provides students with the opportunity to gain experience solving real world problems in a short period of time, relying on each other and their own ingenuity to design, assemble, program and operate a robot to meet the challenges of competition.

This is the third season for this young team.  Yet the hard work of the students is obvious.  The team earned the Chairman's Award at both the Greater Boston District Event and the New England FIRST District Championship.

The Chairman's Award is the highest honor given to
FIRST Robotics Competition Teams, recognizing the team that best represents a model for other teams to emulate and best embodies the purpose and goals of FIRST.  It is even more special for such a young team to earn this prestigious award.

This award has qualified FRC Team 5962 to compete and represent New England at the FIRST World Championship in Detroit, MI.

The team will present their extensive outreach initiatives and partnerships as a “STEM garden”
comprised of six plots: Women in STEM, First LEGO League Jr., community engagement, fundraising, teamwork, and sponsorship.

Supported by mentors and sponsorship from University of Massachusetts Lowell, and several other generous sponsors, perSEVERE holds biannual events to teach young women about electrical, mechanical, and software engineering, as well as soft skills necessary for success.
With its non-profit organization, Merrimack Valley Robotics, perSEVERE has created 24 FIRST LEGO League Jr teams in area public and private schools, reaching scores of students aged 6 to 10.  Team perSEVERE has showcased FIRST and its robot at the UMass Lowell NERVE Center, Dracut Old Home Day, UMass Lowell i2i Conference, Analog Devices General
Technical Conference, local science fairs, and Lowell Spinners Games.

The team is now asking for help to send 25 students and mentors to the FIRST Championship in Detroit, April 25-28, 2018.

We greatly appreciate any help you can provide.
Thank you.
