London Internship Program

So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable and then when we summon the will, they soon become INEVITABLE.
                                                        - Christopher Reeves

I enrolled at Temple University as a Communication Studies major, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. As a communication major, I’m afforded the opportunity to explore other majors such as Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, etc. I felt as though limiting myself solely to a journalism degree wouldn’t grant me the academic experience I have now gained. Now embarking upon my graduation this May 2016, I’ll be graduating with my Bachelors of Arts in Communication Studies/Journalism with the hopes of securing a full-time job at a notable magazine company. My years at Temple have allowed a once reserved, introvert woman from the Bronx, NY to grow into a sociable, hard-working leader who holds numerous memberships and executive board positions within student organizations on campus. Furthermore, I’ve had the pleasure of interning at amazing companies such as The Philadelphia Weekly and NYLON Magazine. Each student organization and internship has aided in my social development, which has prompted me to continue my academic, social, and professional growth by traveling to London.

I have 6-7 credits remaining after graduation and instead of spending another semester at Temple I decided to apply to my school's Global Internship program back in February. This program grants each student a guaranteed internship in a field and destination of their.  After receiving my acceptance letter a few weeks later, I struggled with the decision to intern abroad. How will my parents pay for this? Am I really ready to spend the summer in a foreign country away from my family and friends?  But that's a part of growing up. Stepping out of my comfort zone to work in a completely difference country, culture and environment is an experience I could once only dream of, and now it's becoming a reality. The total cost of the program is $15,019 and financial aid has only given me a small portion (like really small) to put towards the tuition. While my trip is a month and a half away, no donation is too small, and any donations will be greatly appreciated! I'm just a small girl with huge dreams and London is the first of many destinations for me. Thank you :)
