Hey everyone!! We need your help this Christmas to try to put a smile on the faces of homeless people in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and give some hope to these people living in dire, unimaginable circumstances. We want to do this by taking some time to talk to them, listen to their stories and let them know that people are thinking of them and that they haven't been forgotten. Then, to give them a taste of the Christmas that we all take for granted, leave them with a gift. We will be in Edinburgh on the 12th December and Glasgow on the 19th December, but can only do this with your donations of money or time (or both!!).

Just like last year, the Christmas presents will be care packages designed to make things that little bit easier and more bearable for them (food, toiletries, clothing, sleeping bag etc.) But this year we want to upgrade to include a durable backpack to carry everything in.

The plan is to randomly approach them in the street, introducing ourselves and spending some time talking to them as normal human beings before leaving them with some food and the bigger surprise of the wrapped present.

Please, please, please donate. We all struggle financially from time to time but this is nothing compared with what homeless people go through sleeping outside, alone, in the cold on a regular basis!! While you are cosy in your bed tonight, other people are out in the freezing cold sleeping under a bridge, on a park bench or in a multi storey car park. Your donation will help keep these people cleaner, warmer and better fed, but above all, will remind them that they are not forgotten and that people do care.

The cynics might say 90% of homeless people are alcoholics or drug addicts who find themselves in these circumstances due to no fault but their own and the choices they have made. There may be some truth to this argument for some, but normally if you dive a little bit deeper you find that most of these people come from broken homes, abusive childhoods etc in which living rough or numbing themselves with substance abuse became the better option and they have never managed to recover. No one while they are a kid says 'when I grow up I want to be homeless or a drug addict!!!'...it just happens.

So if you can donate that would be awesome!!! The more that can be raised means more people can receive presents. Please donate to the link provided. It'll only take two minutes and if we work together we can achieve something even better than last year :)

You can also help by being there on the day, or chip in with gift wrapping beforehand if this interests you. It'll only take a few hours of your time, but the day will stick with you much longer (see "Last Year" to hear what other volunteers had to say about their experience). Let's do something amazing!!!

Again if none of the above interests you then please, please can you repost this on your social media account so that someone who might not ordinarily see this then will...that would be fantastic in itself....it'll only take 10 seconds and those 10 seconds could be the difference between numerous more presents.
