Forever Home for Research Monkeys

Your help is needed!

I have dedicated my career to the understanding of how the brain is affected in cognitive and motor disorders such as Parkinson's Disease. Research often requires the use of animals to significantly progress toward this goal, but I ask, what happens when the study is completed? For the past 6 years, I have dedicated my spare time to establishing a proposal that allows nonhuman primates to safely retire in a primate sanctuary (i.e., "forever homes") for the remainder of their lives (which can often be up to 20 additional years).

At the moment, I am trying to help three animals properly retire in an Oregon primate sanctuary (http://www.oregonprimaterescue.com/). However, the costs associated with their move and daily care are quite high: $62,000. We need to raise money to cover the costs for their proper retirement in a sanctuary.

Any little bit helps and would be greatly appreciated. These animals deserve a good place to rest and live out their lives. They have been vital to the advancement of our knowledge about the brain regions affected in several neurological disorders, including Parkinson’s disease.
