Foreskin Restoration Presentation

I will be presenting at a national conference on the topic of foreskin restoration.  The title of my presentation is:  “Foreskin Restoration: Out of the Shadows and into the Light of Day.”

This conference ( www.mensstudies.org/?page_id=941), which will focus on Men's Studies, with a particular emphasis on “Bodies, Sexualities, and Masculinities" is the perfect venue to help spread awareness of the history, process and benefits of foreskin restoration.

The presentation will also highlight gaps in our scientific understanding of the process (i.e., What methods work best? Are purported increases in sensitivity quantifiable?) and will postulate the following to the medical community and to society at large:

Some circumcised men experience a feeling loss and have the innate desire to be “whole” again.

Since individuals who have experienced anatomical losses resulting from more familiar causes (i.e., radical surgeries and horrible accidents) are unequivocally and unconditionally referred to as being brave as they struggle with these more obvious impacts on their body image, are not these men who have experienced a more intimate loss (in most cases imposed upon them), and who struggle in private, equally deserving of support and recognition?  Are they too not brave as they struggle to overcome the emotional and physical impacts on their body image?

An undeniable need for recognition: What do you call a man who has undergone foreskin restoration? "Uncircumcised"? "Restored"? How about just BRAVE?

I have started this GoFundMe campaign in an effort to help cover some aspects of attendance at this meeting (meeting registration fee and airfare) so I can help spread awareness of the need to include these men in future discussions of Men's Studies and Men's Health.

Even the smallest of donation will be helpful.

Thank you for your support!

I have had a busy few weeks since returning form this conference, but wanted to share one final piece of information.

After working through a few edits to streamline the presentation for a wider audience, it is now available for those who are interested in the subject matter. I have a PDF file that is available to be sent via e-mail; if you would prefer a powerpoint file we would likely need to use a google shared folder. If you are interested, just ask (my e-mail address is easily found; gofundme recommends NOT including it here in this post).

Thank you again for sharing and supporting this campaign.

I am happy to report that the presentation at this meeting went fantastically!

The coordinators and attendees really made me feel welcomed (Men's Studies is not my official field of study)!

I did hit a small snag with the formatting of my slides (but I was able to re-edit onsite).

After my presentation (which I will be making available soon through various outlets), I was greeted with so many useful, enthusiastic and engaged questions and comments! It really was a warm atmosphere!

When it was completed, the session coordinator thanks me for the illuminating presentation and invited back for next year!

We shall see, but, this certainly could not have gone any better!

Thank you for your support in this endeavor!

You contributions will indeed help offset the costs associated with my attendance at this meeting.

Thank you again!

I would first like to thank the initial donors for their kind support. Indeed, with so many efforts working towards spreading awareness of these issues, it is difficult to contribute to all - I truly appreciate your support!

I have heard of some in the various communities asking "...is this guy legit?" or "...why have we not heard of him before?" Indeed, I am "legit" [feel free to google me] and as for why my name in this community is not more widely known (?), we all have to start somewhere!

I started speaking out and contributing to spreading awareness ~3 years ago in ways that I thought were best suited for me (see links at the bottom of this post). However, I have followed these issues for over 15 years.

With each passing day, we all take steps forward (some small, some large) to help bring about change. The below (and this current effort) have been mine.

I suspect that as time passes, I will continue to step forward (in ways that make sense to me). However, I am not in this for name recognition, so, that is probably why I am not more wildly "known" in this community.

The initial current of a changing tide is gentle, subtle. However, as that energy builds it can have a profound effect on the erosion and ultimate shaping of coastlines. No single molecule of water is more powerful than the next. It is the combination of all that undercuts that rock in need of reshaping.

I'm just one more drop of water in that sea of change.

That rock will topple - and we will all have played a role.

Your support is appreciated.
W. Wallace
