How many of you have heard about the devasting situations in South asia,
Specifically India?
How many of us have heard of Forced Marriages, Child Marriages, Honor Killings and Rape?
Ok... well how many of us have stopped to think about what is actually being done about this?
Because the truth is, not enough is being done about it.
India has Laws in place that make forced marriage, child marriage, rape and honor killings a Crime.
But these laws are very rarely implemented, In India we still face issues of womens rights, and
also the rights of young couples.
With India being the #1 country that holds the largest population of young people, and poverty
being a mojor issue, these problems dont just go away on their own.
When we have corruption in our ''leaders'' and politicians, who not only encourage such acts, but also have quite a disturbing history of
grusome criminal activity themselves.
The ''Police'' have not only been known to offer zero protection to these victims, but they are also known to encourage this behaviour, with the common ideologies,
''Its the girls fault, why was she walking outside at night? Why was she with that unknown boy?
Why was she wearing tight clothes? She must be asking for it.''
Or
''Its up to the parents who they want their children to marry, Its a dishonor to the parents to deny
this kind of marriage, and the ''criminal'' (Child) must be punished and killed.''
These are very common words that we often hear from Authorities in India, and surrounding countries.
Day after day we hear of news stories about these horrific issues,
It has become ''just another rape'' ''Just another honor killing''
''Just another marriage''
When will somebody stop and say ENOUGH is ENOUGH?
This can be hard to do in a country where they have more religious institues and temples,
then they do schools & hospitals.
Finally, after years and years of dreaded silence, that time has come.
An organization Called the ''love commandos'' has stepped up to the war on 'love' as of now,
they are our only chance at change.
About The organization, and how it all started:
''Love commandos'' was started by just a few individuals in India, who became tired of witnessing the injustices committed upon women and young couples.
It started with humble beginings, just a few kind individuals with a passion of helping the innocent.
Well they have come along way since then, they are the only organization of its kind in India doing anything
about this situation and striving to make a difference (And have saved 1000's & 1000's of lives up to date)
They have sold their homes, properties and just about everything that they once owned to make this a possibility.
Throughout the years, love commandos has expanded to just about every district in India with 8 fully funtional
shelters (safe houses) and also 450+ shelters all over the country, opperated by couples
who have previously been under the care and assisted by Love commandos team,
(Nothing like giving back to your community) who offer short term hiding, and under the security of love commandos.
Love commandos do not discriminate based on religion, caste, age or gender.
Majority of the women and couples who come under the assistance and care of love commandos
are infact usually young people still in their youth.
They are a humble organization, and hesitate to ask for anything from anyone.
What do they do?
Love commandos, is a Non profit organization,
saving the lives of young couples and women fleeing from forced marriages, and honor killings.
Advocationg against Rape and child marriages.
They run 8 official safe houses/shelters In India, and over 450 privatly run 'short term' shelters
all over the country. (Of course with very limited space and resourses due to lack of funding)
They conduct rescue missions,
provide shelter,
legal aid,
and protection to couples seeking their aid who are being persecuted by family and society for wanting to marry based solely on mutual attraction and love.
They also help these individuals to obtain legal marriage, so that they can be legally protected.
Where the help is most needed:
All of this costs money, the shelters, security and protection, going on rescue missions (very risky ones too), food and clothing,
the weddings, marriages and official documents and rituals according to the couples beleifs...
Everything, it cost money.
And without the support of the indian goverment, love commandos relys soley on donations and most often
from their own pockets!
In order to secure a promising future, and to prevent the risk of losing it all, to maintain fully functional, continue to grow, and most importantly to continue to save lives and make real change in India...

We have.
There is so many people in this world in need of our help, and no we cant help them all,
but it starts somewhere, and you can make a huge difference (God willing).
What better way to start off your #Ramadan than in an act of lending a helping hand.
This is what ramadaan is all about, commiting to acts of #charity, helping the needy
and becoming closer with God at the same time.
During Ramadan, we usually fast for the whole month.
How much money are you saving on your daily coffee, smokes, and other un-nessecary things?
Part of that money that you save from your fast, could create a brighter future for so many people.
Even if its just $5, $10, $20, $100 or whatever.
It has to start somewhere. And somewhere is better than nowhere.
Lets set a #GOAL This Ramadan season,
and strive to Acheive this goal by the end of Ramadan!
For both people who are celebrating Ramaddan, and those who are not.
We are all brothers and sisters in humanity.
As People Of faith & people of Humanity, we must make legitimate attempts at making a difference where we see evil striving...

when you were given the opportunity to do so, what will your response be?
