For the family and Donna Louise

I have some devastating news to share. My brothers baby boy my nephew  was not his usual self on Sunday 13th January. He had a high temperature and fast breathing from about 7pm on Sunday night. After him being sick at 2am and my brother stripping him off he noticed that he had a purple rash under his left arm. He rang 999 who sent an ambulance and before we knew it he was in Resus in the A&E department. Numerous doctors and nurses were working around his tiny body and in the end they put him to sleep so that he could recover while he sleeps. They transferred him to the Children’s Intensive Care Unit and on the way his numbers and stats all dropped. Not a single doctor or nurse gave up on my little fighter and they were fighting to keep him alive. Unfortunately around 7am Monday 14th January morning all of their best efforts failed and his baby boy aged 14 months drifted off to sleep.

I would like to thank every single member of the hospital team that helped Arthur along the way and who worked their socks off to try and save him.

His baby has died of a blood infection also known as sepsis and if I can give you anything to take away from his experience it’s that you simply must follow your gut. There was unfortunately nothing they could have done to help him. In the space of 5 hours his baby was gone. All of the staff worked so professionally and the support they had given him was amazing.

His baby was the perfect little boy and not even 24 hours ago he was pushing his walker along running around with his twin sisters.

My reason for posting this on here is not only to try and help my brother, his partner and the twins but it is also to raise awareness of this horrible infection.

The funding I receive will go towards giving this beautiful boy a good send off and help the family out. Also we will be sending money to the Donna Louise hospice that have given all the support to my brother, his partner and the girls. They have done an excellent job and they deserve recognise for what they do.
