Since 1989, Family Renew Community has provided transitional housing with an educational component to homeless families with children. Families who are experiencing homelessness can join our program, are provided a place to live for six months or more in which they return to work, develop improved life skills, and save to provide their own funds to move into permanent housing. Each individual family works within a customized Family Service Plan, receives intensive case management and agrees to take the steps necessary to get their lives back on track. The focus of the program is giving families a hand up out of homelessness and not a hand out.
In October 2016, Hurricane Matthew, in its destructive path up the Eastern Florida coast caused widespread flooding, damage and power outages. Some of the hardest hit areas included Volusia County, FL especially Daytona Beach and Holly Hill. Family Renew Community fared well and our families stayed safe through the storm. However, our wooden safety and security fence which surrounds our properties did not do so well. It already had some age on it so a little push from Mother Nature was enough to take most of it down.
Robert Frost once wrote that "Good Fences Make Good Neighbors." The safety and security of our families and children is extremely important to us. To better protect our children at Family Renew we rely on our fences to keep those who don't belong to our program from wandering onto the property.
So we need your help! The anticipated cost to replace our wooden fences comes to about $19,000 for two of our campuses. We have negotiated the best deal we could and even received a generous discount from our preferred Fence Company. We are anticipating that people will be generous and gracious enough to help us out financially so we have begun the process and are filing the permits to get our new fences installed. Working on a tight budget our funds are used for direct services to our clients. Would you be so kind as to help us out with a donation to our Go Fund Me account. Whether a small or large donation it will be used to get our fences back up so our children can play without worry or fear.
