Fire Relief Fund for Foodmakers

Donazione protetta

Last week, we received a number of heartbreaking emails and texts from our friends, farmers, and foodmakers in the North Bay. The Napa and Sonoma Fires have damaged the properties and livelihoods of many of our longtime producers and displaced many of their dedicated team members.

Though the news cycle on these fires is winding down, the work ahead for many of these producers is just beginning. We've been collecting responses from our community of producers to figure out how we can best help out.

The Good Eggs community has always supported our producer family, and now is no exception. After hearing from our producers on ways we can lend a hand, and fielding questions from many of you on how to support, today we’re launching a campaign to raise funds for a series of grants to help our community of producers recover, rebuild, and move forward. To kick it off, from Monday, October 23rd to Friday, October 27th, we’ll be donating 10% of all proceeds from our produce sales to the fundraiser. We hope that you will join us.

Our producers make Good Eggs what it is, and we wouldn't be around without them. Now more than ever, it’s time to come together for those who help us feed our families every day.

The Good Eggs Foodmaker Team

Who are we?

For those of you who don't know us yet, Good Eggs is an online grocer connecting Bay Area families with goods from the farmers and foodmakers of Northern California.

Where will the money go?

Your donations will go toward building three tiers of grants that will be allotted to producers affected by the fires:

Grant of $15,000 (1)
To one producer profoundly affected by the fires to go toward rebuilding their business.

Grant of $7500 (1)
To one producer impacted by the fires to go toward minimizing damage.

Grant of $2500 (TBD)
Remainder of funds to be split into grants of $2500 to be given to employees of our producers who have been displaced by the fires.

Who decides who receives the grants?

A selection committee will convene after funding has been secured, and after we know the extent of the damages. They will review short-form nominations and requests in order to grant the funds.

We will post updates here on the fundraiser page!

The committee will include:

One customer
One non-affected producer partner
One Good Eggs warehouse team member
One Good Eggs office team member
One Good Eggs executive team member

Which producers are eligible for the grants?

Producers must be over 18 years old, be a seller on Good Eggs, and hold employment at a business affected by the Northern California fires.

Running list of producers with damage or displaced employees:

Oak Hill Farm
Devoto Orchards
Gabriel Farm
Wineforest
La Tortilla Factory
Primavera
Pizza Politana
Clover
Kiss the Flower Honey
...to be updated as we receive more information
