SMWYC Juniors Performance Fund

The SMWYC Juniors are community-based with affordable classes open to all. While we emphasize teaching new students how to sail we are also bringing the future of sailing to kids in an fun and affordable way. The Santa Monica Windjammers Yacht Club Juniors took a leap of faith and purchased a pair of matched boats that allow kids 25kg and up to experience the thrill of foiling. We also invested in skiffs, which greatly increases wet and fast fun for our young sailors. Since March 2021, over 45 kids, aged 8 to 15 years old, with intermediate to advanced skills have experienced their first flights on our Nikki Foiling craft. We have now brought wing sailing to our program with the intent of adding a foiling board in 2023. Skiff sailing, foiling and wing sailing represent the future of sailing in many ways and we are happy to be on the leading edge of this evolution. However, as mentioned above, affordability is key to bringing as many young sailors into the sport as possible and we need your financial help to keep investing in the future.
