Flood recovery Angie & Mike Griggs
Donation protected
Hurricane Harvey hit and destroyed Angie and Mike's home. While they were out assisting other neighbors, the call came to evacuate. They took what they could and and placed important belongings as high as possible. Unfortunately their home went under 5 1/2 feet of water, furniture toppled and they've lost nearly everything.
This is especially painful for me, Dana Hurley (from WA where Angie used to live) due to her remarkable history of serving others. As a member of two medical disaster response teams (WA-1 DMAT and Empact Northwest), she helped those in disaster areas. We worked together at Superstorm Sandy in the Pharmacy helping flood victims with medical aid. She has given so much to helping others. While there are many in need, this is an opportunity to impact the lives of someone directly.
In the days to come, their home is likely to be condemned and they will be faced with an extraordinary financial burden. Unfortunately they did not have flood insurance as they were told they weren't in a flood zone. Their existing mortgage is large given they've only lived in their home 3 years. They will need to either rebuild or find a new home and take on a second mortgage. Your financial help will help them get through this tragic event.
We, all of their friends and loved ones, would like to thank you and anyone you share this with, for your kind words and assistance. Should you wish to provide funds directly (rather than have the Grigg's incur the fees from this site, please write and we can provide her Venmo ID for donations). We are trying to raise $10,000 for Angie to withdraw as soon as possible for recovering or replacing urgently needed household and personal items. She needs clothes, storage, food, propane, potable water and a generator. A stretch goal of $50,000 would help to defray their current mortgage.
Please share this as widely as you see fit. Thank you so very much.
