Concerned community member linking Flint residents with a local Plumber (who lives in Genesee County, not a national company) to install full home water filtration systems which DOES NOT REQUIRE a contract or service committment. Some companies will start charging a monthly fee after 6 months of use! This particular package includes all labor, professional installation supplies, and the customized filtration system for $950 (serves a home up to 2 and a half bath, 1 kitchen, 1 laundry; the service package includes flushing the water lines in the home). The Fleck 5000SXT Home Water Filter should not need to be serviced for approximately 3 years.
One of my coworkers lives in an area that tested high for lead. Many people I serve every day have skin issues from having to shower with Flint water. Residents in high lead areas of Flint (48503 and 48504) may be put on the wait list by emailing their name, zip code, and phone number with "FLINT WATER" in the subject line. Each home's water will be tested individually to determine what is needed to go into the filtration process. As funds become available, Brenda's Belly Dancing and Heart Sick Clothing will be working together to organize the install of water systems into those homes that pose high risk for residents. Updates will be provided on the status of completed homes.
