Necessary vet and flight assistance to clear Puerto Rico Shelter
In the wake of the anniversary of Hurricane María, and in the middle of another hurricane season, the Puerto Rico-based no-kill shelter Amigos de los Animales is again filled to capacity with rescued dogs. Last year, the hurricane resulted in the death of thousands of Island residents as well as led many to leave their homes and pets to move to the mainland. An immediate result of the devastation was the disappearance, abandonment, death and injury of an uncountable number of animals.
You help can make sure this does not happen again in the future!
THE RESCUE MISSION
ADLA has partnered with a New-Jersey based destination shelter who has agreed to take dogs on a recurring basis, as long as ADLA takes care of the costs of vetting and shipping. With each shipment, ADLA will continue to rescue dogs off the streets and beaches. The partnership is AMAZING for ADLA as the chances of adoption in New Jersey are immeasurably greater than in Puerto Rico. The island cannot handle the current amount of strays. These dogs deserve a home!
VETTING AND FLIGHT BREAKDOWN
Rescuing takes time, funds and a lot of commitment. All funds are used to save as many dogs as possible!
ADLA’s breakdown for vetting and flights:
Vaccinations (Rabies, DHPPL, Bordatella, deparasite) prior to intake or travel: $75
4DX (checks for heartworm, ehrlichia, anaplsmosis and lyme disease): $45
Sterilization for adult dogs: $100
Vet visit prior to travel: $15
Travel certificate prior to flight: $25
Cost of flight for per dog: $250
