In-laws lost everything in fire

Donation protected
I honestly do not even know where to begin...  On the afternoon of 5/31/18, my father-in-laws apartment caught on fire and everything he owned was destroyed. My mother-in-laws apartment suffered extensive smoke damage as well. At the time of writing this, we do not know what, if anything, from her apartment can be salvaged. My father-in-law, Joe Garcia was left with only the clothes he was wearing.

By the grace of God, no one was injured.

Joe is, and has always been, the kind of person that would do with out to help someone. He would always give willingly and expect nothing in return. My heart aches, not just for him, but for all the families that are being affected by this fire.

I could not imagine having to start over after so many years... Many things can not be replaced.  Family photo albums... Keepsakes from years past... Joe's love for model cars (which was quite a  large collection amassed over many decades- and every car had a story to go with it).

This family lived off of social security checks and I don't know how they can recover on their own.  Having to completely rebuild their lives is going to take some time and a huge financial burden that they simply can not afford. Joe would never ask for help as he is a very humble man. His immediate family is and will continue to do what we must do to help them through this, but as you can imagine, it will be very hard financially.

I ask that if God leads you, please donate what you can. If you see other accounts for the other families affected by this fire, I ask that you donate to those as well. My family was not the only family affected by this fire and I pray that God comforts and provides for all that have been involved.

I hate that 'go fund me' makes me put a "goal" to reach. How do you put a price tag on someones possessions? Literally everything that person owns?  No amount of money can make their life like it was before, but every cent raised here will go directly to helping them start that rebuilding process. The red cross has stepped up for now and our amazing community has stepped up with clothing donations for the families involved.

Thank you to the amazing first responders who worked hard to prevent more damage then what was already done. Thank you to the bystanders who were there to help my in-laws and the first responders in any way.

If you are not in a position to help financially, I ask that you help by praying. Prayer is a very powerful tool and can be as much, if not more help then anything else.

Thank you and God bless.
