Wyatt the Warrior

Wyatt Hemphill, a four-year old boy from Marion, Iowa, is battling a very serious disease called Hyper IgM, a rare immunodeficiency disorder. This means he basically has no immune system, so even the slightest of headcolds can be very serious for our little guy.

He has already been through so much, in and out of the hospital for much of his young life. And now, after a bone marrow transplant last May, he is possibly facing another. His numbers aren't where they are supposed to be and his reactions to medications are severe and painful. He is a fighter, and he keeps on day in and day out. A much stronger person than I am, that's for sure!

To make matters worse, Brandon, Wyatt's daddy has also been through some hard times. After a simple fall, Brandon severly damaged his back and has had two failed surgeries within the last year. He had to go on disability and continues to live in a great deal of pain. Through it all, Brandon has shown great strength and integrity - being a great father to his boys, and a strong and wonderful husband to my neice. I'm very proud of how they both have handled themselves through all of this hardship.

So... the topic here today is money. We are so grateful for everyone's prayers and well wishes, but there are also money concerns. With Brandon's doctors still not clearing him to go back to work, and with the medical expenses that come up when a family deals with these issues, this beautiful family could use a little help. 

For all of you who sit in the stadium at the University of Iowa football games... thank you for the WAVE. It really did put a smile on Wyatt's face for the first time in a long time, and I know it helps the other children as well!

How ever much you can help out with is appreciated, but if you can only give us prayers and good thoughts, we'll gladly take that too!
