Saving Bella

Donation protected
Bella is a rescue dog. She was rescued by an organization headquartered in Seattle after being thrown out of a moving truck in Taiwan. She was flown to the U.S. and adopted by our family. She has been our loving and loyal dog for the last 8 years.

During the month of August our neighbors filed a complaint against Bella, had us served with a citation to appear in court, making accusations of breaking a city ordinance against barking dogs. My husband started taking Bella to work with him shortly after this happened.

Unfortunately while she was with my husband at the shop, a customer left the door open. Bella ran out of the door and down the road. My family ran after her; even going as far as screaming, yelling, waving and jumping in and out of the path of on coming traffic to warn drivers and to persuade them to slow down or go around Bella.

However one vehicle did not feel the inclination to slow down for someone else's family pet. He hit her with his van. My family was into much distress to get his license plate or any information; regardless he just took off without hesitation for the animal he hit and the family he has just now affected.

My husband scooped her up out of traffic, ran down the road with her in his arms & took her to the nearest emergency animal hospital. The staff there was absolutely amazing to her and did a wonderful job at stabilizing her after the trauma and Bella having gone into shock. They treated her wounds as best as they could and bandaged her up but informed us she would be needing surgery.

After paying over $700 for the emergency room and follow up; we were informed surgery will cost us much more than we had imagined or anticipated.

Thank you for taking the time to read about Bella's story. We are grateful for all the prayers and for keeping our little family in mind.

Anything at all would help us save her leg.

*UPDATE*

Unfortunately her leg was far worse then we all had anticipated. It was contaminated with debris from being ran over, as well as missing pieces from her joint. It became a bigger problem beyond just a simple break. Her joint was pretty much destroyed. Her leg was causing her a lot of pain. The leg overall became too high of a risk to keep. It would have caused her more issues. We didn't want to risk her overall health and well-being. We did not want to put her through even more, and more, then she had already endured. Bella's leg had to be amputated in order to keep her healthy, happy, and alive. We are now focusing on her road to recovering and healing.
