THE STORY:

Just over a month ago, this little goober showed up yowling at the top of his lungs outside my apartment. He was skinny and wearing an old flea collar, and clearly an escapee. My roommate and I sat on the sidewalk with our hands held out, radiating friendliness as best we could, until he decided to get close enough to let us pet him. He proved to be sweet as can be, so we scooped him up and brought him inside.

I got him to the vet as soon as I could, and it turned out he had a chip. However, he'd gotten out while his previous owners were in the process of moving somewhere they weren't allowed to bring him. They had been planning to surrender him anyway, and couldn't take him back now. So, I took ownership of him. The vet estimated him to be 6-7 years old, and his previous owner had only adopted him two years before. This sweet creature had been failed at least twice now, and my heart broke for him. Not again. I have him now. This guy is going to be so damn loved!

He got all his shots and tested negative for anything bad. Only obvious issue he had was his teeth. He's missing quite a few and the rest don't look so great. He's going to need a serious teeth cleaning and at least two extractions. They gave me an estimate for the max amount the whole process should cost me, but I suspect it could still be more if x-rays are needed, too. So, I decided to do some research and look into my financial options. It's going cost a lot of pretty pennies, but rescue kitty needs it. More on this soon!

I took him home and got him settled in his temporary space. We were still keeping him separated from the other pets until one last test came back a couple days later. This meant I was splitting my time between hanging out with my cat upstairs, and hanging out with him downstairs. Can't have anyone feeling forgotten! Because of this constant switching, I had a chance to notice something about him no one else had. This goofy angel of a cat is DEAF! My heart exploded. How this deaf kitty survived outside I don't know. I looked up and did a few tests to be sure, and it definitely seemed to be the case. I took him back to the vet the next morning to have them check his ears again and make sure there wasn't anything missed that might help his hearing. His ears looked fine, so the thought is either he was born with it or something happened to him a while ago.

So, now I have this sweet, silly, deaf cat with bad teeth. Who has a name now!

Lucifer Leo Flips Remmey

Often Luce, Luci, LuciLeo, or Flips McGee  for short. (Click it. Click Flips McGee so you understand.)

So, that's the story! And he's been doing great. But he still needs his teeth taken care of. Which brings me to...

WHERE YOU COME IN:

I have done my research. I know what's financially needed. I need your help! Why, though? Because I'm about to move and I can't afford to cover the full cost of the vet bill when I'm supposed to be handing over money at a lease signing soon. And Lucifer's teeth can't wait until I'm able to save up money again. On top of that, I also still need to take my older kitty to the vet and make sure she's doing as well as she seems to be. I had upwards of $500 set aside in my budget for her vet bills, but that has already gone to Lucifer.

Here is the breakdown of what I need help making up for/covering:

First appointment - $275
Second appointment - $15
Booster shot appt - $40
Second booster shot appt - $40
Teeth cleaning/extractions - $766.25

The total of these things adds up to my goal amount, but it's okay if I don't reach that goal! Everything is listed here because I want full transparency about what I've spent money on for this unplanned kitty adoption, and what your money would be helping me with. I can honestly handle the smaller stuff just fine, but I want to show how it has added up at a time I'm supposed to be saving for a move. I would be beyond grateful if the goal was reached for all of this, but what REALLY matters is getting that teeth cleaning appointment covered. I want to get it done ASAP for Lucifer so his poor mouth doesn't get any worse.

This cat is the sweetest thing, and I am so happy he came into my life. Outside of financially, his timing was pretty perfect. He definitely picked the right sucker's house to sit outside of and yowl for help! I've got him now. He won't be on his own ever again. He is loved. He's my little goober!

SO! If you have absolutely anything you can spare to donate and are so inclined, please do! If you can't spare anything, please share this so others who can might!

I hate asking others for money, but this isn't really for me. It's for him. Please help me be able to afford giving him the healthiest and sweetest smile he can possibly have!

PLEASE! PLEASE!! PLEASE!!!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!!

Hugs and love to all of you who help by donating or sharing!!!!
