www.girlpowergarage.com GPG Automotive Group LLC, founded in 2016, is a company designed around a set of ideals that encourages, engages, and educates women to become automotive industry professionals. With only 7% of the industry employed by women, we seek to become an incubator for top female talent that will go on to create institutional change at all levels of the industry.
“Girl Power Garage” is the project name for GPG Automotive Group LLC’s non-profit education endeavor. We are currently working to recruit a select group of women who seek the opportunity to show their skills and capabilities in the garage, desire mentorship and education to become better technicians, on their way to becoming leaders in the industry. Each team assembled will build their own performance car, either from a Factory Five Racing kit, or rebuild a stock automobile with performance modifications. They will do so under the mentorship of a variety of well-known industry professionals. Many will get the opportunity to take technical training classes and serve internships at elite automotive shops. Once the team’s vehicle is built, they will take it to the track for high performance driver education (HPDE). This allows the team members to both drive and service the vehicle under extreme conditions. The exhilaration of high performance driving and time-sensitive problem solving will engage the team members’ competitiveness, while giving them a better understanding of the performance characteristics of the parts they installed, the vehicles they built, and the team that they invested themselves in. GPG plans to document the journey from “the first turn of the wrench to the first turn on the track” with a television series focusing on the build, the stories each team member brings, and the industry mentors that will supervise them. This media exposure aims to highlight the need for more female professionals, but also spread the word that there are opportunities for women to excel in the industry without being a model on the hood of a car. Once the first group is through, they will expand from HPDE to actual amatuer grassroots racing.
Donating to Girl Power Garage helps women pursue a dream they may not have been able to pursue due to the challenges of life. Your contribution will go directly towards the education of these ladies and help create a career for them that will serve you as a consumer in the future. Corporate and automotive industry donors and investors are also welcome. We will have several marketing opportunities for product placement on the television series as well as with banners and decals at the race tracks and car shows we will attend. After all, we want our women to have the best chance to succeed. To do so they will need high quality components for their cars and other supporting equipment: tools, computers, and safety equipment.
Make no mistake, our participants make the biggest investment!! Their time and motivation to become valuable assets to the automotive industry is what we are truly investing in. Help us get women off the hoods, to where they want to be, underneath the hoods and behind the wheel!
