First L.A.P.'s Transportation

First L.A.P. is a nonprofit clean and sober residential center in Honolulu, Hawaii.  Since 2002, we have assisted men coming out of prison to reconnect with the outside world.  They stay with us for 6-12 months while they transition into their new lives.  Over the years, about 400 men have stayed with us. We help get them to job interviews, the motor vehicle bureau to get an official ID or driver’s license, get to doctor’s appointments or AA meetings, and we provide them with a warm and supportive environment while they find their way.
 
We have around 20 men staying with us and any given time so there are always lots of appointments to keep.  The first 30 days out of prison are tension filled for the men because of all the court mandated meetings for parole.  By providing our guys with a reliable ride, they can focus on the work they need to do to find a job and adjust to their new lives.  This small service reduces the stress and worry  out of their day and helps them stay grounded.  

Our trusty vehicle is 14 years old!  It has served us well for a long time but it is on its last legs (wheels) and we need to replace it as soon as possible.
