Fire-Recovery Fund for THRIVE
A fire consumed the THRIVE residence on April 5!
It's effects have been devastating.
THRIVE is a program of URBAN ABBEY that offers housing and wrap-around services and programming for vulnerable women and their infants through their addiction recovery to hope and healing. We provide an 18 month journey. 
Four participants and two staff women lost everything in a fire that consumed the house on April 6, 2017. They walked away, thankfully physically unscathed, but with just the clothes on their back, phones and wallets. 
The participants are currently being housed in a church basement, so their journey to healing can continue. Some were homeless before entering the program.One staff member has returned to family. A second staff member is sharing an apartment with another Urban Abbey Staff Member.
Today we had another family desperately seeking a place for their daughter and her infant - to join the journey. There is no other program or housing that can support her unique recovery.
THRIVE is in desperate need of funds.
We do not receive any government funding.
We are a totally private, independent ministry that provides for the needs of these women.
We receive only a $600.00 monthly fee for participants. The monthly fee did not begin to cover our 24 hour supervision daily as well as programming costs. All of our staff raise their own funding.
The fee did cover their housing as well as food and travel to and from the city because a wonderful ministry called New Life Ministries Thunder Bay partnered with us to provide housing at a cost of just $300 per participant. 
We need immediate help to make THRIVE happen for the next 6 months:
1. house our current four participants and the staff - this means renting a house until we can determine next steps - $10,000 above what we have in our budget
2. purchase the following equipment that was destroyed in the fire: $8,000
computers for staff
personal laptops of participants
3. purchase the following basic supplies for our participants: $1000 per woman = $6000.00
toiletries, underwear, clothing, shoes & coats.
4. replace furniture -this we will do second hand but there is still a cost for beds, dressers, tables, chairs, etc. =$4000.00
