Lost It All In Christmas Eve Fire!

On Christmas Eve, a grease fire started in the kitchen of Kara Florek's Mother, Aline Masson's home. She tried to put the fire out to no avail. Within minutes the fire filled the home with smoke. Unable to see, the air getting heavy with smoke, she dropped and crawled her way towards the door while trying to gather her beloved pets. The smoke, heat and fire overtook her and she collapsed on the floor.
Fire trucks arrived and due to the size of the fire and thickness of the smoke did not enter the home where Aline lay. A neighbor insisted to one of the Firemen, John, a former Navy firefighter, that her car was there so she must be in the home. John kicked in the door and unable to see through the smoke searched until he found her laying lifeless on the floor, picked her up thinking he found her to late and brought her outside where they worked to revive her.
The fire took the lives of Casey, one of two dogs and Meeker her cat while the second dog, Duncan emerged from the home and was taken to Pasco Co. Emergency Animal Services to be treated for burns. Aline was taken by helicopter to Tampa General Hospital where Kara waited while she was admitted to the burn unit for burns on her back, arm, leg and feet and treated for smoke inhilation.
Now, on Christmas day Kara and her husband Jason sift through all the debris. Everything was lost, the comfort of a home, all personal items, clothes/medications/treasures, a vehicle and two family pets. Devistation beyond the imagination without insurance to assist Aline in getting back to her feet.
This struggle is real, it's here close to you and to me. And, she needs our help. This page has been started in an endeavor to do just that. We can each help in some way and added together may give her a fighting chance at rebuilding what a fire took away in an instant. A family member, a friend, a neighbor, needs our help and its time to show we are there. We can help rebuild not only a home but a life.
