#FireEngler and #ReclaimMSU

#ReclaimMSU is an alliance of students, faculty, staff, and alumni at Michigan State University demanding changes that move this institution towards real accountability, transparency, shared governance, and inclusion. We stand in solidarity with all those affected by institutional and cultural injustice on our campus.
We believe that our current leadership has brought shame to our community and have called for the termination of John Engler’s employment as Interim President effective immediately (see petition here: https://www.change.org/p/msu-board-of-trustees-fireengler?recruiter=882000986&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=share_petition). Interim President Engler has proven time and again that he is unfit to lead and unwilling to be held accountable for his actions. As MSU students, faculty, staff, alumni and those concerned with the wellbeing of the university, we have no confidence in his leadership. Until Engler is gone, the MSU community will not be able to heal.
The Board of Trustees at Michigan State University has appointed the most recent permanent and Interim Presidents of this university without a search. We stand with the wide range of students, faculty, and staff who have called on the Board of Trustees to resign. We also believe that no matter who sits on the Board of Trustees, it is critical that the bylaws of the Board are changed to allow full participation of faculty and students in governance of the university and to ensure that the search for our university President includes faculty, students and staff (petition to support these changes available here: https://www.reclaimmsu.com/petition).
We DEMAND, we NEED, and we DESERVE leadership that has the expertise and commitment to build an inclusive environment and culture that is safe for all.
#ReclaimMSU is seeking financial resources to continue our campaign for cultural and institutional change at Michigan State University.
