Fighting for Troys comeback❤️

On November 26 my dad suffered from a massive heart attack with an artery that was 100% blocked. He was at work that day and was found face down gasping for air. Luckily, a new hire at his shop performed CPR and we believe that’s what saved his life. When the paramedics arrived they found him blue from the nipples up. While in the ambulance on his way to Barnes, he flatlined twice. Once he got to the hospital they performed emergency surgery and inserted a stent. After surgery he was in an induced coma for about 3-4 days. These were the scariest days for us. We were unsure of what the outcome would be. If I’m being completely honest.... it didn’t look good. My dad has always been strong, the provider, our hero, a very prideful man that’s always taken care of his family and friends. Seeing him in this state is something I relive in my mind everyday. During these days we relied on each other and our faith because the doctors didn’t seem to give us much hope. The time eventually came to start weaning him off the sedation medicine to see if he would start waking up and responding to commands. This is when things started to change. He was slowly opening his eyes, looking around, smiling... these small victories are what kept us going. WE knew he was in there. WE knew he could hear us and that he was doing everything possible to get back to us. A few days later, it almost seemed out of nowhere things drastically changed. I was in the visiting room, giving my mom and sister time with him, when they rushed to get me! He was responding to commands- winking at us, smiling, blinking, lifting his arms, squeezing our hands, shaking his head yes and no. We were in shock! I believe a day after that he was finally taken off his ventilator. That’s the day we got to hear him say 3 words we didn’t know if we would ever hear again-
“I love you” ❤️ After days in the ICU, then days on a regular floor, he got to go to a inpatient rehabilitation center and spent 13 days there.

On December 28th he had his first cardiologist appointment since being released from the hospital and the rehab center. We didn’t received the best of news, but it’s still early in his recovery. His heart is only working at a 20% capacity and his blood pressure was low. They changed his medication and now he has to wear a shock vest for 24 hours a day for about 2-3 months. This vest insures the electrical components of his heart stay working together in synchronicity. Soon he’ll be starting outpatient therapy to continue working toward the independence he had before the heart attack.

I know it’s always hard asking for help, and my parents would NEVER do this on their own, but my mom is only working part time right now to be home with my dad. We have no idea when my dad will be able to go back to work or if he’ll even be able too. The hospital bills they have are adding up and they had to hire a lawyer for reasons my family doesn’t feel comfortable sharing at this time

My dad is our rock. He’s the most giving and generous man I know. He always puts everyone before himself. He would give you the last dollar to his name. My parents have worked hard for everything they have. My dad has a long road of recovery ahead of him and I know how scary the unknown can be. I want my dad to be able to take the time needed to get back to “himself” without him feeling guilty for not being able to provide for his family. I started this to help my parents get back on their feet while they try to navigate this “new normal” Anything donated- we appreciate beyond words.

Thank you and god bless  ❤️
