Help Me Thru-Hike the AT in 2016!

I'm an 18 year old Environmental Science major at the University of Maine at Farmington, and anyone who knows me knows how passionate I am about mountains and hiking.
Hiking the Appalachian Trail is only phase one of my hiking goal, I plan to complete the three longest thru-hikes in the U.S., making me a Triple Crown Hiker. I want to use my hiking knowledge to better my understanding of the environment, test the limits of my body, and most of all, improve the lives of others. Time spent in the wilderness is proven to be very theraputic, and for that reason I strive to become an expedition leader or ranger. Not only do I want to improve the lives of others through the power of the forest, but I want to do so at a cost far lower than other guided expeditions. Many wildnerness therapy programs can cost upward of $30,000 for two months! I know first-hand that many folks, including myself, could never afford such a hefty cost.
Unfortunately, as we all know, college is very expensive and I won't be able to reach this goal without some help. Even a small donation will help me eat and stay warm while I take on this ~2,168 mile hike. The cost of gear and other supplies add up quickly, believe me!
