Hi! I'm Fen. I'm having top surgery on December 5th, and I'm inviting people to donate to help me cover some of my costs.
I'm non-binary, which means I don't identify as male or female but instead as something else, somewhere between the two. While not all non-binary people identify as transgender, I do, because I feel the need to alter my body and the way I present myself in society in order to have a livable life in my own identity... that's not what everyone means by transgender either, but that's what it means to me.
I've known that my gender was not quite normal from almost the moment I hit puberty, and started to feel strongly that i was very definitely NOT a woman, or female, or a young lady, or anything similar to those things. These days I know that I'm definitely not either of the binary genders, although I lean closer to male on a day-to-day basis. I have no desire to take hormones at this time, nor do I want to surgically alter other parts of my body - mostly because I don't have a problem with them. I do have a problem with my chest, and I've decided to change it while I have the time, and the stability, and a good community around me, and a schedule I can predict.

If the $3000 goal looks scary, don't worry. I get the money you donate even if we don't meet that goal. If all you can do is help me pay for a Lyft when I can't carry the groceries or drive for a few weeks, that's amazing - thank you so much! I will be pretty incapacitated for a while, and it will be a struggle to do a number of things. Money can help with those things, even a little.
