Hi, my name is Rashaad and I'm one of the Producers of Fear Thyself.
Fear Thyself is a live action horror/thriller short film shot entirely in Los Angeles and follows Gina, a Type 1 Diabetic who is having trouble managing her condition after reading about death and diabetes. She’s haunted in her dreams by something a little too close to comfort, later realizing she won’t ever be able to escape herself.
Our brilliant writer/director Nicole is a Type 1 Diabetic and in honor of National Diabetes Awareness Month, we are having a screening in Los Angeles on November 11th. After the screening, we will be hosting a Q&A panel discussion with the cast and crew. We are also reaching out to the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation (JDRF) and other organizations for personnel for the panel.
A portion of the proceeds will go to JDRF, the organization of choice by Nicole, the writer/director.
We are currently in the fourth (and quickly approaching the fifth) phase of the filmmaking process, editing and distribution.
We funded the first half of the project from personal funds and now we are looking to raise an additional $2,500 to offset costs for the final phase of the project. The money will go towards payment for the venue, food and beverage costs, final film expenses and related marketing and promotional materials.
There are over 29 million people on the planet living with Diabetes, that's 9.3 percent of the population and that number continues to rise. This not only affects our everyday heros such as firemen, teachers and doctors, this also happens to children as well as celebrities such as Halle Berry, Mary Tyler Moore, Nick Jonas and others.
The fear of death from Diabetes is a reality for most. We plan to use this film to bring about a heightened awareness of the plight of Diabetes and continue the conversation about what needs to be done to finally get a cure.
