Maria Bahena
Maria was a well loved, hardworking student here at Heritage. Maria was a talented and gifted student, receiving the chamber of commerce award twice, involved in FCCLA, and Show choir. She loved to dance and teach others, her laughter was a great joy among her friends, family, and peers. She spent a lot of her time volunteering. When Maria was 3 she was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma cancer causing her a great deal of problems. As a young child she fought and won her battle with cancer. At the age of 17 Maria’s cancer had resurfaced. She was diagnosed again and was sent to the children’s hospital where she spent 5 months and her 18th birthday in a battle for her life. Unfortunately on May 17, 2015 Maria lost her battle to cancer. Maria was a good friend to many of our students here, was very involved with activities on our campus, and we would love to honor her. Our goal is to raise about $400 and donate a memorial tree and plaque on our campus in the spring to celebrate Maria’s life. We hope that you will be able to help us in trying to honor our fellow student and friend Maria. We are very thankful for any donations that our sent our way.
