Dave Mertes Memorial: Junior Archer

Dave Mertes was an avid hunter who could never find his way out of the mall but could find his way out of the woods in no time flat! He was passionate about family, friends, and the outdoors. Anyone who knew Dave knew that there was nothing he enjoyed more than sharing his love for the outdoors. His enthusiasm for hunting, fishing, and archery was contagious to anyone around him.
While he loved to share his passion with all, he had a special place in his heart for kids. His grandchildren were giddy with excitement in the backseat on the way to grandpa's house! They knew he would spoil them and let them do things that their parents may question. :)
He would let them eat too many M & M's, drive the lawn tractor like it was a go cart, and teach them how to shoot guns and bows and arrows!
On November 18th we lost Dave unexpectedly...
Dave was a long time member of Westgate Sportsmens Club, a Non-Profit organization in Eau Claire, WI. The club is attempting to get a junior archery program started, however they are lacking the financial resources to pay for the equipment (junior bows/arrows/targets/etc).
It would be a tremendous honor to Dave to support this program and fund the equimpment needed. We have established a goal of $2000, however the program needs more than this to fully get off the ground.
The club has committed to recognizing Dave via graphics on the equipment. The fact that his name and passion could live on with this youth archery program would be the perfect way to remember Dave.
