Hi Guys!
As some of you may know I will be running the Fredericton Marathon on May 13th, and the Blue Nose Marathon on May 20th (both of these are 26.2 miles). I figured if my legs are going to fall off from exhaustion, then it may as well be for a great cause!
Cancer is a harsh disease that seems to really like my family. My mother had a serious bout of breast cancer around 2006. She was forced to undergo a partial mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. Thankfully she fought hard and made it through with her own perseverance and the help of our family and friends. After this ordeal, we hoped to never have to go through that again. But around 2013 cancer reared its ugly head again, when my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He was forced to undergo a radical prostatectomy in order to try and cure the disease. Thankfully both are alive and well right now thanks to the doctors that helped save their lives.
Both of my parents have fought hard and have always had a positive attitude towards fighting the disease and continue to fight. There's certain things we can't control surrounding this terrible disease but what we can do is try and raise some money so people like my parents can kick this disease where it hurts.
Every penny raised will be donated equally to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, and Prostate Cancer Canada. To start things off I'm personally pledging $100 and if for some reason I am unable to finish these marathons in under 4 hours and 15 minutes each then I'll pledge an additional $100.
Every penny counts working towards my goal of $1000! Thank you everyone for the support. Let's tell cancer to go fuck itself!
UPDATED: Surpassed my goal of $600 so raised it to $1000! Lets keep this going, thanks for the support everyone!
