I love being a father, and I love being outdoors. One of the best things in life for me is when I can spend time outdoors with my kids. I know many don't get this same experience, or have a hard time making time for it. That is what I'm hoping to change. I'm looking to start an organization that encourages and supports Fathers spending time with their kids outdoors.
I know that there are many great Fathers out there, and many others who wish they could be better Fathers. A variety of reasons may be holding them back. We're hoping to break through some of those barriers and connect Fathers with their children through the outdoors. Your donations will be used to get the organization off the ground and mainly will be funding administrative costs. The plan is that the organization will be self-sustaining/funding once off the ground. Some of the expected costs are: Website, P.O. Box, Filing for Non-Profit status, Basic Promotional Materials.
Our initial goal is to produce a website that will feature an online, international fishing contest. The entry fee into the Tournament will be low (if we exceed our fundraising goal, the entry fee may be able to be reduced or waived in certain circumstances). The rules for the contest are simple: You must fish WITH your children, any fish that you/your children catch are eligible, all entries are catch, photo, release. We will be sending out Fish Measuring Sticks to all participants to be used to officially measure your catch. Take a photo of the fish on the stick, and then of you, the fish and your child(ren). Put the fish back in the water, and submit your photo. It's that simple! We'll be handing out weekly and monthly prizes, and also a year end prize in various categories. The main goal, though, is to encourage Fathers to spend time with their kids and have fun outdoors!
