Faith's Fight Against Leukemia Fund

$7,256 of $1,000 goal

Raised by 122 people in 5 months
Our family received some unexpected news on Friday, December 7th 2018 which changed our lives instantly. My 19 year old younger sister Faith was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). This is a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow with excess immature white blood cells. She is currently an inpatient at John Hopkins for atleast 28 days and has started her chemo treatment. We are reaching out to friends and family during this difficult time to help raise money for Faith's medical bills and her other expenses for the upcoming year. Please know that there is no donation that is too small and every little bit helps. We encourage everyone's positive thoughts and prayers!

Thank you in advance from the Kling family

Update as of January 29,2019. Faith is finally home from the hospital!!! On Monday, February 4th she will return to John Hopkins to begin a clinical trial for immunotherapy. She will be given antibodies which will help expose the cancer cells in her blood. As of now her body is not recognizing the abnoral cancer cells. The doctors described it as if the cells had a mask on. The goal is to have her immune system fight off the abnormal cancer cells and hopefully get the cancer into remission. This will be an outpatient treatment. Please pray for good results during this next course of treatment! Thanks again for everyone's love and support!

*Update as of January 15, 2019. Faith is still at John Hopkins. She was also diagnosed with MDS (Myelodysplastic syndrome) which occurs when the blood-forming cells in the bone marrow become abnormal. Due to this additional diagnosis it will make it very difficult to get the leukemia into remission and will change the standard treatment plan. With that being said, we found out Thursday, January 10th that the leukemia is back and that the chemo did not work to get her cancer into remission. This will now delay the bone marrow transplant. I will continue to post updates once next step treatment plans are determined. Please continue to keep Faith and our family in your prayers! Thank you for all the love and support.

**Update- Our family was told last night that Faith will need a bone marrow transplant since that is the cause/source of the abnormal leukemia cells. Within the next few days the family will get blood tests to see if we are matches to donate. The transplant will occur once they are confident that all of the leukemia is out of her blood. The chemo she is currently receiving is preventing the bone marrow from producing additional cancerous cells or any new cells at all. We ask you all to continue to pray and send your well wishes! And again, thank you so much for all the love and support. - The Kling Family
