Facing Homelessness
Donation protected
My name is Nichole Gardner. I have a 501c3 non-profit organization in Antioch California that we started about a year and a half ago and we feed the homeless and provide donated clothing, shoes, blankets, tents, and toiletries on a weekly basis.
I pride myself in making delicious and filling comfort food for the homeless. If I wont eat it, I wont give it to them. We serve dishes like fried chicken and waffles, fried fish, chicken parmesan, sweet and sour chicken over rice, enchiladas, meatloaf, smothered porkchops. We even did seafood gumbo last Christmas and sweet potato pies with cake and cookies. I try to give them meals that they can enjoy, that reminds them of when they weren't in their current situation. One lady a couple of weeks ago said the meal reminded her of her moms cooking and she was just smiling.
I go out once a week feeding approximately 45 people but would definitely like to do more and go out at least twice a week. Your donations will help us to accomplish that goal. We usually go to the same locations every week but with extra funds we will be able to expand and go out to other locations in the city. There are homeless men and women all over the city and we would like to be able to get them some comfort food also.
We are also asking for men and womens clothing, jackets, hoodies, socks, blankets, bras, underwear (new) toiletries and food. If you have any of these items to donate or would like to volunteer, you can reach me on our group page at www.facebook.com/groups/facinghomelessnessinantioch.
Thank you,
Nichole Gardner
P.S. All donations can be written off on your taxes. Just let me know if you need the letter for it.
