MELSON EMERGENCY FUND

Things have been very stressful for a number of years.  My husband was disabled in a car accident in 2005 (he was rear ended while stopped at a red light) and has not been able to work since and the disability he receives is next to nothing.  My husband's health just keeps getting worse.  In addition to his injuries from the accident he also has heart issues and high blood pressure and is taking many medications.  We have been struggling financially ever since.  We lost our home to foreclosure in 2010 but was lucky enough to find a house for rent.  Things were "ok" until last year when I found myself out of work for the summer.  I worked temp jobs until I found something permanent which I now have.  But we are in this financial hole and cannot get out.    We have no one to turn to for financial help.  Unfortunately, the stress just seems to keep piling on. I thought that once I got back to work, money would no longer be an issue. But unfortunately, I was wrong.  We are good, honest people and do not ask for handouts but at this point I am desparate.   We were always the ones who were trying help others in need by giving someone a place to stay or giving to the local food pantries, etc.   And now those organizations are turning us away due to the large amount of money we need immediately. 

My anxiety and depression are at an all time high, and I'm feeling very backed against the wall and this is my last resort.  I don't know what else to do.  My landlord already has a rent and possession on us and he can actually have the sheriff come and remove us from the property without warning.  I am currently trying to work with him but I am afraid his kindness is running thin right about now.

If I can make my goal, it will get me through the months of October and November relatively unscathed. Even if I cannot make the entire goal, my immediate need is as follows:

$1000-October's rent. IF I DO NOT MAKE THIS BY OCTOBER 3, WE WILL BE EVICTED. We have NOWHERE to go. 

$530-Electric bill. IF I DO NOT PAY THE FULL AMOUNT BY OCTOBER 3 OUR ELECTRIC WILL BE SHUT OFF.

$150-water bill - must be paid by OCTOBER 10  or OUR WATER WILL BE SHUT OFF.

This is a total immediate need of $1680. These are the bills that, if I do not pay, will affect my ability to have safe shelter and will have an adverse effect on my new job, which are the two most important things to me at the present moment.  Paying the Rent and keeping my electric and water are VITAL to our survival.

Anything that you can contribute will be so very much appreciated and will ONLY be used towards my bills. I truly believe in people's kindness and someday when we are back on our feet we will pay it forward.
