On Saturday, April 22nd, Ernie Ojito, a beloved friend suffered a severe stroke while he was practicing one of the sports that he loved the most and was flown by air ambulance to St. Mary's Medical Center. He suffered total paralysis to his entire right side, has respiratory, speech and other difficulties which is expected to require long term care and recovery.
It is anticipated that medical expenses will be astronomical. He does not have medical insurance. He will no longer have income and his fiance, Karla Aviles will require massive amounts of financial assistance to help with her own Household expenses.
Ernie has worked as an architect for a local firm in Palm City for the past 15 years. Karla works as a dental hygienist
Both Ernie and Karla are well known and respected in the treasure coast running and biking community participating and contributing to many health and fitness related activities. Ernie taught Judo to children. Karla is a Zumba Instructor teaching children and adults. She also organizes and coordinates running, walking and social activities.
