My name is Soleil Patterson, I grew up in Rossland B.C., skiing at Red Mountain. I am currently on the UAA NCAA ski team, representing the Red Mountain Racers. Growing up in the Kootenays (where I know people support my goals) as a ski racer has taught me so much, from cooperation with peers to self discipline and drive in all aspects of my life. It has also has presented me with many new opportunities. I have made close friendships with competitors in almost every province, and even other countries, allowing me to go to amazing venues and places. I am extremely fortunate to have been brought up in this amazing sport.
Competing in FIS and Nor Am races with the B.C. Ski Team over the last seasons has been both rewarding and challenging. After seeing all the competition around North America, I have come to the realization I need to work even harder to achieve my goals. Highlights from previous seasons; 4th place finish in Lake Louise Downhill NorAm and a 3rd place finish in the Lake Louise Canadian Championship Downhill, I also ended up 7th in Downhill standings for the Noram Cup, and finished the season with the overall win for the U19 National Championships. I am looking forward to next season starting it off with some solid top 15 finishes in the Norams. Unfortunately, just as we were begining our summer training in Whistler, I suffered a tibia fibula break which led to surgery and a long recovery. I have been slowly regaining mobility and becoming extremely eager to get back to training on and off snow and of course eventually racing.
Fundraising for training and racing expenses has become necessary to afford the fees required along with school. In preparation for the 2018/19 race season I will again have the opportunity to train at the level required to compete nationally and internationally. Thanks to the generous financial support from family, friends and the community I completed successful seasons with the B.C. Ski Team.

This upcoming season my aim is for strong results on the FIS, NCAA and NorAm Circuit, part of my long term goal to compete on the world cup tour and eventually race the Cortina (ITA) Worldcup Downhill. Competing as part of our Canadian Alpine Ski Team representing; Canada, British Columbia, Alaska and of course my home ski area; RED Mountain Resort, is something I am confident that I can achieve.
