My daughter Victoria, her 3-year-old son Liam, Liam’s father Angel, and Angel’s mother and grandmother lost everything they owned in the Cumbras del Rubi Fire in Tijuana today.
Tori was just promoted and now manages a Starbucks in San Diego. Angel works full-time as well. Liam, my grandson, is almost 4, and everything he knows is gone.
I am grateful that everyone is alive and safe, but that does not replace what is needed to get by. Any help you can give this family is appreciated.
The home that burned is the family home. Three generations were fortunate enough to live together under the same roof, which is rare. They are all devastated.
Liam is resilient, but Angel had to grab him and run due to the fast-moving flames, which was terrifying. I'm grateful for Angel's fast response; he saved my grandson's life.
There was nothing left of the house or the contents, though. They will all need clothing, an extra pair of shoes, toiletries—everything. Liam doesn't have extra clothes or any toys. They all have places to stay in Southern California or Mexico that are safe, if not cozy. But they want to rebuild their lives.
Anything you can do to help, financially, will go directly to the family for immediate needs. Extra will go to making sure Liam feels safe and sound again, and making sure his grandmother and great-grandmother can move into a safe place to live.
