Chance King Memorial Fund

My eternal companion passed away at home early Sunday morning, January 10, 2016. His battle with a malignant brain tumor - Glioblastoma Multiforme - GBM. His battle with this cancer began on June 10, 2015 with a series of seizures. He endured 2 brain tumor resections, a brain bleed, shunt implant, shunt removal, staph infection that began after his initial surgery on June 16, 2015. He underwent 30 radiation treatments, a few rounds of chemo (he was unable to complete his chemotherapy treatment due to on-going brain infection), punctuated ear drum which caused CSF fluid leak, a spinal tap, 3 different IV antibiotic infusions which lasted 14 days each time. He spent a total of 84 days in the hospital. All of this was endured during a 6-month period! Chance was definitely a fighter to say the least! His wife, Daphney King, and 3 children, Morgan King (19), Bailey King (17), and Kendall King (4) will miss him tremendously until they are reunited for time and all eternity. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested funds be donated to this memorial fund to help support his family. The money will be put into an account to help the children with their college expenses.

Original Story:  After much research, we located Moffitt Brain Tumor Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.  They currently have 2 clinical trials Chance may be eligible for immediately.  They contacted us today (July 22, 2015) to set up an appointment for Monday, July 27, 2015 with a team of doctors specializing in brain tumors.  Prior to the meeting, they will be doing a series of test/scans.  I'm working on gathering medical records today and faxing them over so they can review.  We need your help...and yes, it takes a LOT of pride swallowing to ask help from others...but we have no choice if we want to make this happen.  Due to our financial situation with Chance not able to work, we need help with travel expenses to get down there and back.  We feel like the Lord is leading us down this road!  This is taken directly from their website,  "Our multispecialty brain cancer team is made up of not only neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists and medical oncologists, but also highly specialized neurologists, neuroradiologists, neuropathologists and neuropsychologists, all of whom work together on a tumor board to improve each patient’s prognosis and quality of life. Throughout the course of a patient’s treatment, the tumor board will evaluate the patient’s progress in light of the newest research findings to make evidence-based recommendations." Of course, we will be sharing with others facing the same demon GBM any information we gather!
