Let me tell you a story about a very kind, loving, God-fearing woman in need of your prayers and support. Her name is Jessica Moscicki. After five days of severe pain, two ER visits, a gallbladder removal after they found a stone the size of a golf ball, and a spleen laceration that needed monitoring, Jessica thought she may be on the road to feeling better though the pain was persistent. On Friday, January 1, 2016, Jessica underwent emergency surgery after her blood pressure dropped and her pulse spiked. Surgeons thought her spleen had ruptured and we're going to remove it. However, it was immediately clear that Jessica's spleen wasn't the entire issue. Jessica's Lap-Band had slipped from it's original placement and cut off the blood supply to nearly all of her stomach tissue. It was already too late to salvage the organ so surgeons completed what they called 'damage control' while removing as much damaged tissue as possible. They left her stomach with an open-vac wound and prepared for the worst as surgeons said they didn't expect Jessica to survive. As this is written Jessica's body is currently fighting off a septic infection and her blood pressure is being closely monitored. Jessica is scheduled for this surgery at 0645 on Monday Jan. 4th to perform a Hunt-Lawrence pouch and Roux-en Y procedure which is essentially an effort to create a 'pouch' to mimic a stomach and reconnecting her esophagus to her small intestine. This procedure is very similar to a gastric bypass surgery.
Though we are seeing positive signs, her strength to undergo a second surgery being the biggest thus far, we are definitely not out of the woods yet. There is still a VERY long road ahead for her. Jessica is an extremely proud woman and would be so touched to see all of her supporters rooting for her in prayer. We know Jessica would never ask for help but we also know she will not be able to do this on her own. Our hope is that with this she can focus on her recovery over anything else moving forward.
Thank you for your continued prayers and well-wishes. Jessica is a beautiful light in all our lives and we pray her light will once again shine upon us as bright as ever very soon!
