Burnt Garage. House Recovery
Donation protected
On Saturday December 12, shortly after 7:00pm, a fire started in the garage of my best friend.
The events that followed were life changing and will make a mark on this family forever.
Oscar and his son, Daniel Jimenez (14 years old) were working in the garage, where they love to fix and tinker on cars, when a really hot lamp sparked. This created instant flames. Then, the fire burnt Daniel's face and hands. Quickly, Oscar, ran into the house and yelled there was a fire and told his children to immediately get out of the house. Mateo (8 years old) grabbed Oscada (16 months old) and took her to the neighbor's house, while he was in his pajamas. Daniel called 911 and told them there was a fire and stated there weren't children in the house.
Fire Station 6 quickly arrived in one to two minutes, having just gotten done with another fire. Daniel then called Patricia, his stepmom, and mom to Octavia (turning 10 years old on Tuesday December 15), Mateo and Oscada)), telling her to come home quickly as their garage had caught on fire.
Within 30 seconds, you could hear popping sounds like popcorn because there were flammable cans of spray paint in the garage. Patricia arrived on the scene with Octavia and I within 3 minutes (we were nearby) as the firemen were connecting hoses and firefighters were starting to coordinate their work efforts.
There were four firetrucks on scene, police cars, and one ambulance. There were people with cell phones taking video, which made it so there was no where to park for Patricia, myself, or others that were to arrive on the scene later.
The FireFighters were amazing! They attacked the fire with full force!
The fire was being attacked, Red Cross showed up on the scene, Daniel was sent to the hospital for his second second degree burns on his hand and first degree burns on his face.
The fire was finally put out. The results of the fire... The garage is totalled. Three cars were lost in the fire. The basement was flooded and there is smoke damage in the downstairs hallways.
If the family did not have a fire proof door, the fire would have spread to their house. The family is thankful that they have a speedy FireStation and FireFighters that responded quickly, and kids that are well educated that know what to do in an emergency situation.
Now, they need to rebuild the garage, and replace doors. They have medical bills for Daniel. They are unable to stay in the house due to the smell of the smoke. They will be repainting and recarpeting. The money will be going towards rebuilding the garage, and cleaning the house so that it can be livable and safe for the family.
Now, let me tell you about this amazing family, and this amazing woman, Patricia. Patricia puts everyone above herself, always. When I was going through the darkest time of my life, she was there for me every step of the way. She was the light, and what carried me through each day. When I thought I couldn't make it, she found a reason for me to. And when everyone else disappeared after a tough trial, she was the friend who stuck by my side and is now seeing me in happy times. She is the definition of a true friend. She gives selflessly of herself each and everyday to her family, her friends, and to her community. She is a building coach at Muldoon Elementary in Anchorage, AK. Patricia is a loving mom to amazing three kids and a great stepmom.
Each and everyday she is positive in every situation no matter the circumstances for herself and others. Everyone comes to Patricia for anything and everything and she supports them through it all.
Please help her and her family. I know she and her family will be forever grateful for your donation. Anything would help. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and request for help. <3
