ENTROPY - Short Film

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Sayar, producer for this project, Hari and Paolo, the co-writers and directors, are currently in pre producing developing our sci-fi short film called Entropy…

Entropy is about what happens when you don’t move on. It’s about holding on so tightly that the world around you stops with you. If that idea resonates, if you’ve ever struggled to let something go, then this film is for you.
And if you want to help bring it to life, we’d love to have you with us!

Logline:
On the one year anniversary of his girlfriend's death, a mourning young man trapped in grief makes one impulsive phone call and reconnects with someone he thought he had lost forever, forcing him to confront a reality that may no longer be his own. The disorder that follows after forms the story of ENTROPY.

The People Behind it:
We are a mixture of grad and current students from two film universities in London, we wanted to challenge our creativity, knowledge and collaboration skills by teaming up with students from another university to widen our networks and create a strong community and connection between our two universities. We aim to create new opportunities and connections from this film, creating new pathways into more projects which we can work together to create. We want to build a strong network between our two universities whilst creating a timeless, meaningful film. We are very excited to showcase our skills and unique perspectives, bringing our vision to life on screen!

Budget Breakdown:
Your support will help us achieve a higher quality of production. Our main investment to enhance this project revolves around our production design, acquiring our dream location and vfx in post production. These will bring the script to life through detailed set dressing, costumes and locations. We plan to film in a rented house, making it crucial to reach our funding goal to fulfil our vision and add depth to our story, which ultimately impacts its final appearance significantly.

The funds raised will go towards securing essential equipment, such as an Arri camera, which will enhance the film's visual futuristic appeal. Covering food and transportation costs for our external cast and crew is vital in maintaining a positive working environment and allows us to work with talented individuals in our team. Ultimately, your support will be the crucial factor that transforms this project from an idea into a compelling work that can be showcased at film festivals. Your contribution will help us elevate the quality and reach of our film, allowing us to share our vision with a broader audience and create a lasting impact. Here is where your donations will go:

Why Support Us?
Filmmaking is a collaborative art form, and we’re gonna bring all the creativity, futuristic aesthetic and situations which make you question your own reality. While we are lucky to have saved up for this project out of our own pocket, creating a high-quality film requires funding beyond what we can provide on our own.

The support and funding provided this crowdfunding will allow us to create portfolios of our talents and skills which will advance our careers as post-graduates. This will significantly strengthen our resumes, as being able to showcase a well-made film made by students from two different universities, being able to collaborate and network together. This will show our ability to successfully take a project from beginning to end with your contribution will support our professional growth.

Locations;
Entropy lives in the spaces people refuse to leave behind. Most of the film takes place in Harvey’s apartment, a place that hasn’t changed in a year. Not because it can’t but because he won’t let it. This is because his girlfriend, Hope passed away suddenly. Every object, every photo, every small detail is exactly where it was… because if he moves things, it will be like she never existed.

We also step outside into quieter, heavier spaces like the cemetery, places that don’t offer comfort, just cold hard reality. Getting these locations right is about feeling. They need to feel real, still, and a little suffocating.

Cinematography:
The camera sits with Harvey. It lingers. It waits. It lets silence do the work. But as reality starts to shift, so does the image, subtly at first, then just enough that something feels… off. This story exists right on the edge of reality, and we want the visuals to reflect that without ever losing its grounded core.

Production Design:
This film only works if the world feels lived in or more accurately, refused to move on from.
Harvey’s apartment isn’t messy by accident. It’s preserved. Frozen. Like time stopped the moment Hope died. Photos still hang. Her things are still there. Nothing’s been packed away. If Hope walks back into that space, it shouldn’t feel like a reunion, it should feel like something that was never allowed to end.
Every detail matters here.

Transport:
Simple, but essential. We need to move people, equipment, and everything in between without slowing the process down. Good transport keeps the production focused on what actually matters: performance, tone, and getting the moments right!

Distribution:
Once the film is finished, we want it seen.
Festivals are how films like Entropy find their audience, people who connect with quieter, more personal stories. Submissions, materials, promotion all adds up, but it’s what gets the film out into the world and for people to see and feel.
