Late Saturday/early Sunday, May 2nd, my older brother Cody was in a terrible car accident. His car was destroyed and he is very banged up. Cody was taken to UPMC Altoona and was later transferred to UPMC presby in pittsburgh.  Cody had a lot of bleeding and as of today has received 28 units of blood. He has two arm fractures, a broken femur, broken tibia, and a jaw fracture.  His left ribs are broken and all displaced. He also had a lung collapse and has left and right side chest tubes. His spleen was removed. He was transferred because they thought he might need ECMO but as of today he doesn't. His blood gas levels have stabilized  and they decreased his vent settings some. Today he is more alert and able to wiggle toes and squeeze his hands. He also is able to nod in response. He will be going into his third surgery today to check how everything is looking bleeding wise, remove some packing, and possibly even get some of his bones fixed if he is stable enough! We are seeking donations because Cody has no health insurance and has a long road in front of him. Donations will also help with our family's travel expenses to be with him.
