Recently, I've got a new job as a manager at a LGBTQIA+ Non-profit. I've been working to create and run safe, affirming events, programs, and services for underserved communities in my area. When I went full-time, I received benefits that cover gender affirming care.

I will be having top surgery April 2nd, 2025. It's about 18 days away from today, and I've been preparing for pre and post surgery. Luckily, my insurance is covering a lot of the procedure, but there is a $3000 portion of the surgery that is not covered by any insurance. I will also need to buy some specific pillows, shirts, aftercare items, etc.

I'm super excited to get the care I've needed/wanted for years now. I am not as excited for the financial implications of getting gender affirming care in the U.S.
