My mums fight against breast cancer

Hi everyone!

As some of you may know, in early April, my mum Becki was diagnosed with Stage 2, grade 3 Breast Invasive Ductal Carcinoma and Axilla metastatic carcinoma. This is breast cancer that has also spread to the lymph nodes under her arm.

The current treatment plan is 6 months of chemotherapy, followed by surgery to remove the Lymph Nodes, a mastectomy and possible radiotherapy if the chemotherapy doesn’t work as needed.

While MRI Scans, CT scans and heart scans are still needed to determine whether or not the cancer has spread elsewhere, as you can imagine, there is a long journey ahead for my Mum.

On top of this, my mum is a proud NHS worker but unfortunately will receive very little help from the government financially, during this next year or so while she is unable to work. My mum will not receive any sick pay from work and Statutory Sick Pay will only last 28 weeks, which totals a significantly less amount of money than she would receive while working. Additionally, with the last month being continuous hospital trips, biopsies and scans, her annual leave is unfortunately not going to be an option for much longer when starting treatment.

While we will help my mum as much as we can during this challenging time, I am hoping that opening this gofundme will give my mum one less thing to worry about and will allow her to focus solely on getting the treatment she needs and recovering with as little stress as possible.

My mum is hoping to raise as much awareness as possible to encourage other people to check for signs of breast cancer and is hoping to share her journey with as many people as she can.

I am already so incredibly proud of my mums strength during this time, but being able to help wherever I can to support her is very important. My mum will have a long road of recovery ahead but I know she will fight this!
