Requesting Support for Urgent Kidney Surgery – Jordan López from Nosara, Costa Rica

Hi everyone,

My name is Jordan López Cordero, and I’m from Nosara, Costa Rica. Many of you know me from Playa Guiones, where I spend most of my days working in what I am most passionate about: surfing. I’ve dedicated a big part of my life to this beautiful sport — not only as a surf member but also by helping it grow within our community.

I am honored to serve as the President of the Nosara Surf Association, where I work tirelessly to make surfing a tool for development and growth. My goal has always been to ensure that more people can enjoy surfing and that local residents have opportunities to grow both professionally and athletically through this incredible sport.

Today, with humility, I am reaching out for your support. Since 2019, I have been diagnosed as a chronic kidney stone former, a condition that has seriously impacted my health and quality of life. I have endured intense, often unbearable pain. In 2023, I suffered a severe attack that marked the beginning of a long and painful journey. Doctors found large stones in both of my kidneys, each nearly one centimeter in diameter.

Despite many visits to the public healthcare system, no definitive solution was found. On June 21st, 2024, I experienced one of the worst attacks I’ve ever had, resulting in almost a month of hospitalization. I underwent a ureteroscopy to remove the stone from my left kidney. Recovery was extremely painful and difficult, involving a catheter from my kidney to my bladder for 22 days, continuous bleeding, and emotional challenges, especially due to poor treatment and lack of clear communication from the hospital.

Now, as of April 2025, the stone in my right kidney has become active again, causing severe and frequent pain. My first public hospital appointment is not scheduled until August 25th, meaning I could spend months in pain, unable to work fully or be present for my family and community.

Adding to this situation, in 2023, a serious family accident had a tremendous emotional and financial impact on my life. That event, combined with my health challenges, has led me to humbly seek your support through this campaign.

Why am I raising funds?

My goal is to undergo the entire process through private healthcare as soon as possible: consultations, exams, surgery, and full recovery.

I cannot endure another year of pain and waiting. I want to return to being the joyful, active Jordan, fully committed to my community and my family.
