Hi! My name is Erica, I am Summers daughter. I am starting this GoFundMe account to help my mom. This is her story… In October of 2018 she got the diagnosis of colon cancer. She had her surgery and recovered well, then started chemotherapy. She had 12 treatments in 6 months. She rang the bell and had routine scans until February of 2022 when they discovered that it had returned - this time on the outside of her colon. She had another surgery and started chemotherapy again. This chemotherapy was different than the first. A much rougher round than the first. My mom also has a heart condition called pro-longed QT. Because of the chemo and the aggressive side affects, it triggered the heart condition. She went through hell that night. Being shocked back 4 times then being taken to Grant where she had surgery to have a defibrillator put in. This happened during the chemotherapy treatments. So it was safest to stop the chemotherapy. She had 8 out of the 12 treatments. Then went back to her routine scans. In February of 2023, we received the shocking news of the cancer returning. This time it has metastasized into her liver and lungs. We were told without treatment my mom would have 6 months left of her life. My mom is a fighter and will be starting chemotherapy for the 3rd time in her life. If you know my mom, you know that her name, Summer, is perfect for her. She is bright, brave, strong, and everything that is good. She makes a friend everywhere she goes. She lights up every room that she enters.
