My beautiful, smart, funny, 11 year old niece Maia was hit by a car while crossing the street with twin sister 07/21/2015. Maia was transferred by ambulance to Riverbend Hospital where she was stabilized then transferred via LifeFlight to Doernbechers Children’s Hospital in Portland. In the accident Maia sustained a severe skull fracture and concussion.
As of right now, Maia is in ICU in Doernbechers. Her recovery is promising but the length is unknown at this time.
Maia’s is from a large blended family, including 6 step, half and full siblings, her Mom Dana, Step-dad Buddy and Dad Gareth. They will need to be in Portland for the next several days to weeks, while Maia is recovering from her injuries, meaning her parents will not be working at least for this time, along with worrying about Maia, Dana has already started worrying about work as well as the medical bills that will come with the ambulance ride and life flight. I am asking, begging and pleading that we can gather together and support this family and Maia’s recovery.
